  Biographical Info:

Platypus Marine operates as one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest full-service indoor shipyards situated on a strategic ten-acre waterfront facility in Port Angeles Washington, directly off the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This prime maritime location delivers exceptional deep-water access, boasting 1,000 feet of deep-water dockage, a 35-foot draft haul-out capability and heavy-lift equipment—including a 500-ton travel ft and a 50-ton boom truck—engineered to safely handle vessels up to 500 tons with a 36-foot beam. Backed by decades of industry expertise their dedicated project management team meticulously controls costs and timelines while executing complex assignments across a diverse fleet ranging from luxury yachts and commercial fishing boats to specialized government assets for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They specialize in high-quality topside ship repairs and complex modernizations deploying a highly skilled workforce to deliver elite dockside services and complete pier-side operations that cater to every phase of marine construction, maintenance and refit.

To ensure uncompromising quality their expansive facility features over 110,000 square feet of enclosed space distributed across five specialized buildings equipped with advanced radiant floor heating. This climate-controlled dust-free indoor environment optimizes conditions in our premier blasting and painting shops where our expert finishing team leverages over 15 years of experience alongside NACE Level 3 certified coating inspectors and NAVSEA basic paint inspectors to apply flawless yacht coatings and rugged hull preservation systems. This environmental containment works in tandem with their specialized on-site production spaces, which include dedicated mechanics, carpentry, electrical and joinery shops. Their welding and fabrication team maintains rigorous NAVSEA and ABS certification requirements, demonstrating master craftsmanship in steel, aluminum, fiberglass, wood and stainless steel to build new custom boats or manufacture high-end custom machinery. As a proud member of the Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA), the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and the U.S. Superyacht Association (USSA), Platypus Marine pairs full-spectrum in-house support—from initial engineering services to off-site assistance—with a firm commitment to strict regulatory standards, ensuring your vessel bypasses lengthy operational delays to get back into the water safely and quickly.
