The Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently published a report detailing findings and recommendations for fire prevention improvements during ship maintenance periods. The Navy has concurred with all six of the GAO’s recommendations.
An implementation plan is currently under development to integrate these corrective actions into regional maintenance center (RMC) processes and ensure compliance across the fleet maintenance enterprise.
