South Bay Sand Blasting and Tank Cleaning, Inc. is a Minority Owned, self-certified Small Disadvantaged Business, headquartered in San Diego, California. The company was incorporated in 1991 by Canuto T. Lopez who is the sole owner and current President.

With sales far surpassing $20 million annually, South Bay Sand Blasting and Tank Cleaning, Inc. is one of the largest tank cleaning companies on the San Diego waterfront. The company has become the premier provider for the United States Navy for Non-Skid and coatings applications, and maintains a QP-1 Certification with the Society for Protective Coatings, or SSPC organization. Of course, our namesake and core of our business is our Tank Cleaning division, with the most qualified and experience personnel on the waterfront. The company’s newest department is the Technical Flush Division, using advanced equipment to perform high velocity system flushes on key propulsion and critical systems aboard Navy vessels and submarines.

Understanding the nuances of working in a shipyard environment, and for the Government, South Bay Sand Blasting and Tank Cleaning maintains qualified staff at levels to meet all of our customer’s needs, ranging from 160 employees to as many as over 200 as the workload demands. South Bay Sand Blasting and Tank Cleaning is a direct provider to the United States Navy, its Primes (MSR’s and ABR’s), and often partners with other contractors to accomplish the best solution and value for our customers.

With over 40 years of experience on the waterfront, and because of his entrepreneurism, business acumen, and strong work ethic, Mr. Lopez has enabled his company to mobilize specially designed equipment and qualified personnel anywhere in the world in support of the U.S. Navy, and insures his employees have the most up to date training and certifications to accomplish the most challenging work activities for which the company supports.
