Drastic Cuts to CVN Work in Bremerton

Vigor Shipyards held a meeting on June 5th with their major subcontractors to inform them that the Navy has drastically cut private sector work on the upcoming USS John C. Stennis Planned Incremental Availability. The PSSRA board of directors immediately opened a dialog with the local Navy contracting officials and also contacted Congressman Kilmer’s office. Local Navy officials have had little to share with industry regarding the reasons for this decision. Congressman Kilmer and his staff asked PSSRA to meet and brief them on Monday June 10th. Congressman Kilmer offered to make an inquiry with both CINC PAC Fleet and Naval Air Forces on behalf of our industry. Also on Tuesday PSSRA sent the attached press release to the Kitsap Sun and the Bremerton Patriot. Here is a link to the story which appeared in the Sun.

You can also view the brief that was given to Congressman Kilmer here and the press release that was sent out here.
